FIRST Lego League is a global ​STEM and Robotics competition. ​Working in teams of 3-5, students ​will participate in a robotics ​challenge where they research and ​design an innovative solution to a ​real-world problem, then present ​their idea to a panel of judges.

2024-2025 FIRST SEASON:


In the SUBMERGED℠ challenge, teams will ​use creative thinking and LEGO® ​technology to explore the layers of the ​ocean and bring their learnings and ideas ​to the surface as they “sea” into the ​future.

AERIAL DRONE PILOTING TEAMS!

Fly like a Pro and learn what it takes to be a ​skilled drone pilot- no experience necessary!

Ages 10+

As the demand for drone technology ​soars, students who gain early, in-depth ​experience will stand out in future ​careers, gaining a competitive edge in ​industries that are shaping tomorrow.

DETAILS:

  • Teams will practice in our NEW 20x20 ​indoor Drone Obstacle Course!
  • Lessons available in Python or Blockly ​programming languages
  • 3-5 students per team
  • No experience necessary!

Requirements:


  • Laptop with MacOS, Windows ​or Chromebook (Blockly only)


  • Participation in the Aerial ​Drone Competition ​(competition teams only)

Drones Purchased Separately

Only one drone is required per team, however ​individual drones are recommended for equal ​practice time and pre-competition challenges.

IMPORTANT: Competition Teams will require extra practice ​times as the season progresses. A substantial time ​commitment is essential for success and active participation ​is expected from all team members.

Supported by the REC Foundation, The Aerial ​Drone Competition offers an exciting ​educational drone sporting event that focuses ​on hands-on, student-centered learning.

Four Missions

TEAMWORK MISSION

Drones are piloted by ​students. Two teams fly ​together on the same ​competition field to maximize ​their score.

PILOTING SKILLS MISSION

Drone is piloted by students ​to fly through an obstacle ​course. Each team competes ​alone to score as many points ​as possible.



COMMUNICATIONS MISSION


Teams interview with Judges ​about their Drone, ​Programming and Competition ​Logbook Documentation


AUTONOMOUS FLIGHT ​MISSION

Drone is programmed by ​students to operate entirely ​autonomously. Each team ​competes alone to score as ​many points as possible.
